Hands-On Support
The motherhood journey is difficult and it was never intended to be a solo sport. When a baby is born, so is a mom. As much as the baby, the mother needs a community of support. That is where Lux Baby Massage comes in. We provide the hands-on support you need to remove confusion, frustration, or anxiety in supporting your baby’s overall health. We do this through private individual and private group classes.

Why Baby Massage?
Babies & children thrive with love, our classes teach responsive care & love from the outset
Why perform baby massage?
There is a growing body of research that evidences the therapeutic benefits of baby massage. Baby massage is already a fundamental and routine part of baby care in many parts of the world and is becoming increasingly prominent due to its benefits for both babies and parents.
Kenia was friendly, engaging, and passionate about baby massage and supporting new mums. My baby has colic and reflux, so we are particularly benefiting from the tummy massage strokes.
Marie C.
I felt Kenia did an excellent job of making us feel welcome and supported. She is very knowledgeable and has a lovely, relaxed teaching style. The course information was excellent.
I really enjoyed the whole experience, Kenia was very knowledgeable and also worked hard to get the mummy's to interact.
What is Baby Massage?
Baby massage provides many benefits for the infant. A caring touch is good for everyone, but especially for infants who are new to the world and need the reassurance of someone special being there for them. However, there are some major benefits for massage givers as well. They gain an increased awareness of the baby and his or her needs while enhancing the bonding process between caregiver and baby. Research from experiments conducted at the Touch Research Institutes at the University of Miami School of Medicine and Nova Southeastern University has been cited for the clinical benefits massage has on infants and children. Touch therapy triggers many physiological changes that help infants and children grow and develop.
There are countless benefits of infant massage not only for the infant but also for the parents/caregivers, family, and society. Benefits to the infant include:
Interaction (nurturing touch, bonding, verbal/nonverbal communication, quality time, using all of the senses, pre-language communication skills).
-Stimulation (circulatory system, digestive system, immune system, lymphatic system; language development, muscular development, tone, growth, mind/body awareness).
-Relief (gas and colic, constipation and eliminations, excess mucus, growing pains, sensitivity to touch).
-Relaxation (Improved sleep patterns, increased flexibility, being calm, ability to calm self, reduction of stress hormones, higher levels of dopamine).
-Massage changes the DNA expression of a baby and transforms his or her brain. How powerful!
What is the desired age for babies to attend?
Ideally, 4 weeks to pre-crawling is the desired age as the massage is easier when infants are not mobile. However, massage and positive touch are critical at all ages of our lives so adjustments can be made for the growing child.
Absolutely! You are performing the massage using gentle gliding yet firm strokes. The baby is not receiving a deep tissue massage.
All babies are welcome no matter the mood or stage. This is a baby-led class and they are our teachers. It’s difficult to schedule class times at the best time for each baby so there is no telling how your baby will be feeling. Taking breaks to feed, cuddle, or hold your baby, so that they have a positive experience, is encouraged.
